Join Us for an Inspiring Afternoon! 

Spend the afternoon with the Cleveland Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program (MOTTEP) and local author Chante Thomas.  

Learn about the importance of organ donation and transplantation within the minority community, followed by an empowering talk with a living donor who will share their story. 

For the little ones, local author Chante Thomas will captivate them with a special reading of her book, Sean and the Book Cures. This heartwarming story follows a young boy and his cousin as they navigate the journey of understanding kidney disease and turning a scary situation into one that's manageable. Children who participate will receive a signed copy of the book and fun giveaways!!

Learn how to use a pie-iron to make a delicious pizza and dessert pie. Youth Outdoors staff with go over safety and how to cook over an open fire with this popular outdoor cooking tool. And then eat the pizza or pie you make! A short hike with a chance to hand feed a chickadee will also be available throughout the day.

Make sure to dress for the weather, as we will be outside all day.

We will be meeting at A.B. Williams Memorial Woods, which is just past the North Chagrin Nature Center entrance.

Join us at Big Cedar Point Picnic Area at 11 am (meeting place) for a hot dog lunch. Then we'll hike over to the Rocky River Nature Center and go on a short hike up fort hill stairs. At 1 pm we will go explore the Nature Center and the Star Lab program to view our night sky up close.

Join BBBS at 11 AM as we tour the Coast Guard base. We'll explore the boats, common watch center, how the communications works with the radio, and the equipment! We'll also go out on lake for a boat ride (unless it needs to go on a call).

When you arrive, let the call box know you are there for the tour with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cleveland. And once through the gate, you'll be able to enter the parking lot.

Join BBBS on Saturday, June 8th for our BIG Day of Play, our annual summer extravaganza!

This event is about having fun with the BBBS family, supporting our one-to-one mentoring mission, and celebrating our Littles!

You can participate in several ways:

• Put together a fundraising page and share your link to help us meet our fundraising goal of $50,000 to support BBBS kids

• Sign up as an attendee or event volunteer

• Have a Little that wants to show their skills and talents during the Little Showcase?  We're looking for singers, rappers, poets and artists!  Sign up here and we'll send over details.

We will all gather together on June 8th from 11am-3pm, for an outdoor celebration, which will include games, food and fun!  Register today!

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Greater Cleveland and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Delta Alpha Lambda Chapter are thrilled to announce its partnership with The Fishing Foundation, and the Cleveland Metroparks Youth Outdoors to host a free Big for a Day fishing event for youngsters, ages 8-17. The event aims to connect “Littles” and “Bigs” already in enrolled in program and matched, “Littles” enrolled in the program and waiting for a mentor, and “Bigs for a Day”, giving them a chance to hang out together fostering mentorship while providing a unique opportunity to learn about the art of fishing and outdoor exploration.

This is our first Big for a Day event in 2024. There's no long-term commitment required. Just a few hours of your time to share smiles, build memories, and make a lasting impact. We would love to have you there! (Sign up instructions below)

The event will take place on Saturday, May 11th from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Camp George Forbes, 25440 Harvard Road, Highland Hills, OH 44122. Through hands-on activities, participants will learn basic fishing techniques, environmental conservation principles, and the importance of respecting aquatic habitats.

 Join BBBS as we explore the gallery at the Community Arts Center, which features colorful puppets, floats, and costumes from Parade the Circle, the museum’s annual celebration arts and community parade. Then unleash your inner artist with a trip to the art room! You'll get to pick an art activity below that'll spark your creativity:

•  Impressionism painting inspired by the upcoming Monet in Focus exhibit at CMA.

• Cup constellation that'll connect to the eclipse event on April 8th.

• Dioramas.

• Pollinating bees to bring in the Spring season.
